"Super 101" for IITJEE Aspirants
Quest has declared the formation of Delhi's own
"Super 101" on the lines of the concept launched in
Bihar by IPS officer Abhayanand Anand Kumar. This is
an effort to provide equal opportunity to students of
weaker economic sections, who cannot afford the prohibitively
expensive courses offered by various coaching centers.
The Super 101 batch will be open only to kids of government
schools who have a monthly household income of less
than Rs.3000.
"Pozitive
30" for brilliant underprivileged medical aspirants
Bpozitive will provide "Free" coaching to 30 students
taken in the "Pozitive 30" group. Admission to "Pozitive
30" will be given to students of weaker economic sections,
who cannot afford the prohibitively expensive courses
offered by various coaching centers. It is open only
to kids families that have a monthly household income
of less than Rs.3000.
Giving back to the Alma-Mater (For IIT/IIM)
Quest, an educational institute run by IIT/IIM graduates
has found a novel way to help IIT/IIM graduates contribute
to their Alma-Mater. According to this scheme,
meant for all the alumni of IITs and IIMs, Quest
will donate 5% of the course fees to the alma-mater
of the alumni, whenever he refers a student
to a program. This gives a new dimension to
corporate social responsibility. It is a win-win situation
for all concerned. Praveen Tyagi, Director (Quest) believes
that every alumnus wants to donate money back to the
alma mater but never gets around to doing it. In this
manner, the alumni will get the satisfaction of contributing
to the alma-mater while taking care of an important
need of educating a child. Coaching has become a norm
for anybody wanting to crack IITJEE. What is even better
is that the contribution will be made by Quest on behalf
of the alumni out of the revenue it receives.
World
over the alumni body contributes largely to the development
of the Institutes. In India, IITs have started collecting
money; most of the IIMs still do not have a proper system
of collecting money from its ex-students. These giants
of Indian education have to depend on the government
for funds. It would be difficult to establish world
class research institutions without the active
charitable involvement of the alumni. It may be noted
that industry captains are more than willing to contribute
to the cause of education. Indian School of Business
(ISB) at Hyderabad was a result of donations from the
Industry.
With
over 50000 extremely successful alumni, IITs and IIMs
can become the most powerful education brands in the
world. A few creative instruments like the one
devised by Quest will make the difference. The institutes
covered under the program are:
IITs
(Roorkee, Delhi, Bombay, Chennai, Kharagpur, Kanpur
and Guwahati), IT-BHU Varanasi
IIMs
(Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Calcutta, Indore, Kozhikode)
At
a philosophical level, Praveen believes that this is
a way for Quest to pay back to the IITs. After all the
whole coaching sector exists because of IITs only. Praveen
also believes that there is a need to mend the relationship
between good Coaching Centers and the IITs. "After
all Coaching Centers play the role of being marketing
agents for the IITs", he says. He also believes
that such responsible actions will help people
in identifying good educational institutions over
purely commercial establishments.
